Winemaker for a Day
Donated by R. Stuart & Co. & Nick’s Italian Café
There’s a romantic vision of the contemplative winemaker, with his thief and glass in hand, making his way through his cellar, meandering down each orderly row of barrels, a smell of sweet oak and aging wine wafting in the dark, cool space, as he tastes the progress of each individual cask to consider the magical formula for each unique blend. This is where the exacting science and creative artistry of the winemaker comes alive. Now, imagine yourself as the winemaker for a day! Spend the afternoon with winemaker Rob Stuart as he leads you through a barrel tasting of the very best Pinot noirs in his cellar and guides you through the process of blending them into your very own signature blend. After the work is done, stroll over to the charming R. Stuart & Co. Wine Bar, which will be closed for your private winemaker dinner. Chefs Carmen Pierano and Eric Ferguson of Nick’s Italian Café will craft each course to creatively match with selected RS & Co. wines. After the winemaking process is complete, you will receive 4 cases of your signature blend.

Trois Bouteilles de Vin Français Très Vieux – or – 3 Really Great Bottles of Old French Wine
Donated by Laura and Read Worth
Add this trio to your very own collection of unique, special wines. The first is a 1978 Chateau Margaux , which is arguably the most graceful of the Bordeaux First Growths, producing wines with floral perfume, silky texture and a perfectly lingering finish, which earned 92 points from Robert Parker and 92 points from Wine Spectator (est. value $700). The second selection is a 1979 Chateau Mouton Rothschild, often the most exotic and perfumed wine from the Médoc, Mouton-Rothschild was promoted from second- to first-growth status in 1973, the only château to be so elevated since 1855; this wine received 96 points from Wine Spectator (est. value $600). The final wine is a 1997 Chateau Rieussec Sauternes, made from a high percentage of Semillon (usually about 90%), which was to its benefit in 1997; Parker called it a “stunningly proportioned, beautifully pure wine” and awarded it with 91 points (est. value $200).
